The Disabled Shop is looking for talented bloggers to write about disability and disability products. To find them, we are holding a blogging contest.

What you can win:

• £250 in prize money.
• Publicity in our press releases and newsletter.
• The chance to become a professional (paid!) blogger.

The Judges

We are delighted that Disability Writes, an organisation that seeks to assist and encourage Disabled Writers, will be selecting the best blog post.

Get ready for the Disabled Shop writing contest!

Guidelines:

1. Use an image at the top or in the body of your blog post.
2. Break up your writing with subtitles.
3. Write what you know about.
4. Consider writing about or mentioning one of our products in the body of your post. You don’t need to do this to win the competition, but it will increase your chances of being hired as a blogger.

Topics

We are open to any topics covering disability. If you are short of ideas, consider the following:

• living with disability
• Alzheimers/dementia
• innovation in disability
• product reviews
• gifts for disabled friends

Important:

We are running this competition because we want to find a talented freelancer blogger or bloggers to write for us. We’ll award the prize based on the best post, but the blogger may be chosen on other criteria, for example the ability to write about a wide range of disability products and issues.

Submission:

There are two ways to enter.

1. Send it to us either using google docs or a word/text attachment, or a text attachment if your post contains code/image links. Use the email address: info@thedisabledshop.com.

OR

2. Write your submission on your own blog. Mark it clearly as “Disabled Shop Blogging Contest Entry.”

Submission is entirely free. All submissions must be in English.

Eligibility:

Contestants should be over the age of 18. Contestants should either be disabled or have some connection with disability. Submissions can be submitted from anywhere in the world but payment abroad will only be made by PayPal.

Posts

Posts should be between 250 and 750 words in length.
Content must be related either to disability or disability products.
Blog posts must be new and original, and written specifically for the competition. Blog posts must be the work of the entrant.

Terms and Conditions

The winner will be selected by an independent judge or judging panel. Posts may be published on TheDisabledShop’s Blog and may be used for publicity. Winning does not guarantee that future blog posts will be purchased. The winner will be notified by email and must respond within 14 days in order to collect the prize. Contestant’s name will be published on TheDisabledShop’s Blog and will be available on request. TheDisabledShop reserves the right to publish any posts submitted to the competition but will not sell the post without the permission of the writer.

Winner

The winner will be announced within two weeks of the end of the competition. The writer will win £250, to be paid by PayPal or by cheque. The winner may also be offered a part-time blogging position with a remuneration of up to £250 per calendar month (the precise figure will be dependent on the number of posts etc) – this will be on a trial basis. We reserve the right not to offer the position or to offer the position to someone other than the winner of the competition.
