All about disability – and the aids that can help.

About Us

The Disabled Shop

The Disabled Shop was one of the first internet shops set up dedicated to the needs and the requirements of the disabled community. The idea for the shop came about when Managing Director Jean Rasbridge, who suffers from Osteo Arthritis, which was then especially bad in her hands, was unable to put salt on her food! (See Jean Rasbridge for a picture or for more information about Jean.)

After managing to find and purchase a specialised salt grinder, she started to think of all the other disabled people unable to buy the products they wanted – and The Disabled Shop was born.

Jean and her husband Mike also have many years experience in the electric mobility scooter and wheelchair market, and therefore particularly are aware of the needs of disabled people.

Rebuild

The Disabled Shop has recently undergone a rebuild. The aim has been to make it easier for you to use, easier for you to find products and easier for you to check out. In addition, you no longer need to join in order to checkout, although if you do wish to it will speed up the future checkout process, and you will be eligible for the regular discount codes we send out to customers.

About the Company

The Disabled Shop is a small company. That means:

  • we have time for individual customers.
  • when you have problems, you don’t get automated replies with your name inserted by a computer program into an email – you get the personal attention you need.
  • unlike some large corporations, it is easy to get in contact with us:  email us on support@thedisabledshop.co.uk and we will give our immediate attention to any query.
